About Us

Heart

The passion to treat others the way I wanted my daughter and my parents treated puts me in a unique position of being able to truly ‘walk the walk’ and ‘talk the talk.’ I guess a lot of it boils down to integrity; I am honored to offer it to you. I am always happy to help collaborate with you and your team to advocate for what it is you want and need to make life easier, whether for yourself or your loved one. Trust me, I get it.

A great joy for me for almost as long as I’ve been in this industry is working with my son, Nick, who has always been my ‘right hand man.’ Having been influenced significantly by Cassi, as her big brother, Nick has also learned the lesson of “Quality versus Quantity” and chose to join me in our move to Tennessee where we are establishing new roots in a community that is so wholesome and loving (to say nothing of beautiful, too!). Together, we are an incredibly strong team committed to excellence on your behalf. HomeBase Solutions, LLC is here to serve you in so many ways.

Since starting in this industry, we have won awards as National Contractor of the Year in 2020 for Universal Design through NARI, and both “Homes for Life” awards through NAHB in 2021 for Bath Remodel and Overall Best CAPS Design, helping to identify us as being quite knowledgeable, creative, and committed to doing the job well. In addition, both Nick and I have a BS in Business Administration (he earned his from my alma mater: CSU, Chico).

And we both have attended continuing education; between the two of us, we have earned certifications of CAPS, CEAC, UDCP, CRPM, and CLIPP. Prior to this career path, I worked as a firefighter for the state and a manager at Apple Computer, Inc. Well before that, I earned my Eagle Scout and was the drum major for my high school marching band. Ah… the memories.

I have finally realized that I have God-given abilities to write and speak well, and am considered dynamic in both disciplines. I absolutely come alive and my enthusiasm is contagious when speaking and presenting on the things I know so well—making homes accessible, advocating for others, loving and caring for someone with disabilities; and even the tough stuff, especially when someone passes. It is on this last issue that my ability to speak from my heart and answer any question is helpful to intimate gatherings of one to one-thousand people. You are welcome to ask me anything. Whatever I can do to help is a blessing to both of us.

I hope that you will give us the chance to serve you on your journey. Please contact us today to discuss your needs and how we can help.

I want to personally thank you for visiting our “About Us” page to learn more regarding who we are. What brings you to our website and, presumably, to this page, is probably much of why I started this business over 19 years ago. In that time, I have become an accessibility nerd! I have fully immersed myself into the world of finding the most appropriate solution for our clients who want to live in their own home regardless of their age or abilities.

My passion for doing so was initiated from my daughter, Cassi, and her sixteen-year journey with Cerebral Palsy. Additionally, this also included helping my parents age as gracefully as possible. Since we started, we have offered our clients Dignity, Opportunity, and Respect™, something I had not yet seen offered to either my daughter or our home.

Cassi influences me on a daily basis. While she went to be with the Lord in 2014, I still always think about what products, services, and customer service I would want her and my parents, as well as the community Cassi was born into, to receive. Cerebral Palsy kept Cassi from doing much of anything for herself, but she will always be “Daddy’s Little Girl” and I cannot wait to see her again!

Having lived the life of a brother of a sibling with disabilities, I have learned many things about the world of accessibility and advocacy. My sister was the inspiration for our journey into the accessibility industry as all those that came into our home to provide their so-called “solutions” never showed any respect to her or our home. To this point, as a protective older brother, I recognized that those in the industry that were coming into our home with accessibility recommendations were never acknowledging my sister or giving her any respect at all. That just didn’t sit well with me as it became apparent that they were only in it for the money and ultimately didn’t care about their client. Thus, my family’s venture into the accessibility industry was established and have been doing so for the last 19 years.

I personally have been a part of this industry ever since I was 13, helping with the family business and learning as much as I could throughout that time. In addition, I graduated from CSU, Chico with a bachelor’s degree in management with a minor in project management with the purpose of furthering our ability to serve the disabled community. Having been raised by an Eagle Scout, many of the positive traits have been ingrained into me such as the importance of integrity, trust, and kindness. These are qualities that I and the rest of HomeBase Solutions strive to demonstrate every day.
